iBv3 IRC Chat Hack
About iBv3 IRC Chat Hack
This is a hack (add-on) for ikonboard version 3 created by Ilya Pupko (AKA ILAsoft). It will add an IRC Chat feature to the board, but it can also work as stand-alone (which means, that you can implement it both, on your homepage and your bulletin board).
NOTE: There will be no real support provided for ikonboard. I'm using a different board and have no time to support an archaic one. I also don't think I should spend money for hosting of an old hack. Nevertheless, feel free to look through this page (since this page is kept only for "historical" reasons, most of the links are disabled).
Features supported so far
• Seamless integration into the ikonboard (through .pm file).
• Nickname of the users on the board will be automatically "translated" into IRC nicks.
• Passwords for NickServ can be entered in user's preferences.
• Users can customize the dimensions of the chat pop-up window.
• You can customize colors of the chat pop-up window.
• You can customize message displayed to users when they accidentally try to close IRC chat window or try to load a different URL inside of it.
• Custom sounds (sound add-on available).
• Custom icons (uses ikonboard's default icons, can use other ones too).
• Automatically enters your own room on your own IRC server.
• Has drop-down box with most commonly used IRC commands (more can be added).
• Users have an option to use Java applet or text based chat (will be added in the next version).
Demo
You can view a demo of this hack here. This is just a visual demonstration of how your board might look like after you apply this hack. You board might look different if you use a different skin. Most of the board features were also disabled in this demo for security reasons. The demo also has minimum features (only a few sounds and emoticons) as it is here only for presentational purposes and not for real chatting.

*NOTE: The java applet was developed by JPilot and costs $40 (which I myself also believe to be an outrages price). If you know of any other java applet that has at least as many features, please tell me.
